PLEASE STAY IN THE BREAK AREA

The Affinity studio is designed to be open for your viewing experience so we ask that all children be watched at all times in the break area. You are able to leave the break area for certain reasons such as using the bathroom, changing room, breast feeding, outfit change, or diaper change. No cell phones or recording devices will be used beyond the break area. Any violations in this policy will result in the forfeiture of your session. We do this for you, and the baby's safety . Franchesca needs complete focus on your baby and cannot be distracted.

WE NEED PROOF

If your child has already been born and you would like to book a session we request that you show a birth certificate or some type of proof of your child's age. If your child is above the age requirement we will find out and have to cancel the session or charge you additional for the extra time it takes to pose

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR NEWBORN SESSION

The sessions begin at 11:00 am.

Sessions are baby-led and I allow plenty of time for feeding and comforting.

We only do one newborn session a day, therefore, there will be no rush.

Newborn safety is my top priority. We will not put your baby in any unsafe props or poses.

The session will be held in our Studio

Please sit back and relax, make yourself at home! Watch some Netflix.

It will be very warm so that baby is comfortable without clothes on. Dress yourself in layers that can be removed if it gets too hot for you.

I will be playing white noise from an app in the background to help get baby off and hopefully stay in a deep sleep.

Parents and children should relax in the waiting room. This allows us to properly pose your baby without any distraction. Don’t worry we will only be 50 ft away and you will be able to see us and your baby from a distance

Please bring a few diapers for changing and at least 3 bottles of formula or milk.

I may ask you to ignore a strict feeding schedule rule for the couple of hours at the session. The only way we will achieve these images is if your baby is happy, full and sleeping deeply.

Most of the poses are of your baby lying on their back or side with either a wrap or your arms around them for maximum happiness and comfort.

PREPPING YOUR BABY BEFORE THE SESSION

Here are a few little things that will help prepare for the session & help things run smoothly:

1. If your baby has slept solidly for 3 hours prior to your session then we may spend too long trying to get baby to sleep and not get many posed, sleepy shots. If you can, on the morning of your session, try and keep little one awake for a bit with a little interaction and try also to time a feed just before you leave or on arrival at my home. Obviously this may all go out of the window as these things are always easier said than done! But this little bit of prep really can make a difference to your session if they arrive nice and sleepy.

2. Dress baby in a simple loose sleeper that doesn’t have to be lifted off over the head just incase baby is sleeping soundly on arrival. No tight socks to avoid lines on their skin.

3. If you are using or considering using a pacifier please bring it along. It can be a huge lifesaver when baby continuously wants to feed/suckle for comfort. Sometimes it really is the difference of getting that shot or not.

4. Any eye gunk or boogers are to be removed where possible please.

5. If you are breast feeding, it may help to not eat spicy or acidic foods or drink caffeine in the 48 hours prior to your session as this could possibly make baby unsettled.

ON ARRIVAL

A full baby means a sleepy baby so a top up of milk before we begin is usually a good idea.

If baby is awake when you arrive, it is best to undress them first, loosen the nappy and then wrap them in a blanket before that extra top up. Otherwise your baby may get upset at being undressed when they are nice and cozy.

FEEDING BABY

Please know that I do not mind waiting for you to nurse or for nappy changes, or just taking a break to soothe your baby at any point. You and your baby's wellbeing is more important to me than getting a shot.

If you are bottle feeding your baby, please bring along more than you think you’ll need!

POOP!

When doing the poses where the baby is undressed, it is normal (and okay!) for baby to poo or wee on my backdrop... or anywhere else. I can assure you this happens all the time and I am not bothered by it in the slightest! Please bring with you baby wipes, extra nappies and a towel. After each newborn session I launder all of my backdrops and wraps.

An extra set of clothes for the parents is a good idea, just in case. Someone always gets wee'd or pooped on, it’s usually me, but sometimes you!

FAQ

WHAT IF MY BABY COMES EARLIER OR LATER THAN THEIR ESTIMATED DUE DATE?

Great question! When you book a newborn session with us, you are not scheduling a specific date. Instead, we put you on our list of guaranteed spots. After your baby is born, you simply let us know, and we'll provide you with a few dates to choose from that are within the first 5-15 days of life. The one exception to this is if you know you're having a scheduled c-section or induction. We will mark off a tentative date for your session and confirm it in the week beforehand. Sometimes babies have other plans and decide to arrive before they're scheduled to!

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING FOR MY BABY TO WEAR?

Nope, you just need to bring your baby! The Affinity Studio has a variety of wraps outfits and props. Everything is provided in order to create The Affinity Studio experience. Outside props and outfits are strongly discouraged due to our COVID-19 policies

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN SESSION?

The perfect time to pose a newborn is 5-15 days after their birth. We set aside a limited number of sessions each month so that each client receives our personal attention. To secure your desired session time, please contact us as soon as you can. We add a tentative date around your due date onto our calendar upon booking. Once baby arrives, you will then contact us to schedule your session.

WHAT CAN I DO TO PREPARE FOR THE SESSION?

ry to keep your newborn awake for an hour prior to the session and plan to feed your baby just prior to leaving your home or when you arrive at the studio. We recommend to have 3 bottles of milk or formula on hand. If you are nursing, it is best to keep a bottle of expressed milk on hand for use during the session. Pacifiers are also extremely helpful for allowing me to calm your baby during the session.

WHEN CAN I VIEW MY GALLERY?

Most online galleries take 2-3 weeks from session date excluding holiday months in which a gallery may take 5 weeks
